Many people have asked the question. Why do Christians talk about the blood of Jesus? And why is the blood a part of the Christian belief? If we look at many other religions throughout the world they also have sacrifices and blood rituals. To explain this phenomenon, let us look at three stories in Genesis one about Adam, another about Noah and The Tower of Babel. Genesis 3: 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. (KJV) 1/ Who sinned?…………………………….. 2/ Who shed the first blood?………………… 3/ Had the animal committed a sin?…………………………. Genesis 9: 4 But you shall not eat of flesh with the life in it, or the blood of it. (MKJV) 4/ Where is the life?…………………………………. 5/ Who will give an account for the shed blood?……………………….. Genesis 4: 10 And He said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to Me from the ground. (MKJV) 6/ Is God aware of the shed blood?………………………….. Genesis 8: 20 And Noah built an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. (KJV) God’s Covenant with Creation Covenant is to make an agreement 7/ What is the sign of this covenant?………………………… 8/ Who did God chose to repopulate the Earth?………………………. And I have given it to you on the altar to make an atonement for your souls. For it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul. (MKJV) Atonement in the Old Testament is to make a repayment (sorry) to cover the sins. Leviticus 16 The Day of atonement (covering of sin) 12/ Atonement in the Old Testament means to………………………… Leviticus 23: 28,29 who is not afflicted (C> self-denial) in the soul shall be cut off God is requiring atonement for sin. 13/ What is required for atonement of sin?……………………………… The Old Testament is the Blueprint for the New Testament. This means that God will and has shown what will take place in the New Testament by first of all showing a plan or a layout in the Old Testament. All we need to do is to look closely at the symbols used by God to see this. A/ Man sinned B/ God killed an innocent animal to cover mans sin Let us now look at the New Testament to see the new developments. Jesus said He did not come to take away the law but to add to it. Romans 3: 21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. (NIV) Righteousness to be blameless 15/ Who have sinned?……………………………………… 16/ What do we need to have faith in?…………………………. Luke 22: 20 In the same way He took the cup, after having dined, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is being poured out for you. (MKJV) Atonement in the New Testament is to make a repayment (sorry) to wash away the sins once and for all. 17/ Atonement in the New Testament means to……………………….. Revelation 1: 5 To Him who loved us and washed ( C> freed) us from our sins in His own blood (MKJV) Acts 20: 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God which He has purchased with His own blood. (MKJV) which He purchased (C> obtained) with His own blood Purchased to buy or obtain 18/ What did Jesus use to pay for us?…………………………………… Ephesians 1: 7 to 14 redemption through His blood Guarantee (C> pledge) Down payment, promise Purchased possession (C>God’s own people) paid in full Redemption to be saved from 19/ Who do you belong to?…………………………………… 20/ Do you know that you have sinned?………………………..
