Lesson 2 Salvation PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 February 2007

As disciples, we are to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ. It is important for us to understand this, so that when we meet someone who doesn't know Jesus, we can explain who may become a Christian, why, when, how and where. To receive salvation from Jesus is just the first step of a Christian's life, It is important to build our faith upon that firm foundation.

What are the four points we need to explain to a nonbeliever so they can become Christians?
1/
2/
3/
4/

Why and who

Genesis 2:15 And Jehovah God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it. 16 And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree in the garden, 17 but you shall not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. (MKJV)

Chapter 3 of Genesis explains the fall of man, where man disobeyed God and ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Their sin was disobedience and the lack of repentance. God is pure and without sin. There is no darkness is in Him. Sin cannot dwell in the presence of a holy God. In the Garden of Eden, man became separated from God.

5/ What is disobedience to God called?

Romans 5: 12 Therefore, even as through one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed on all men inasmuch as all sinned: (MKJV)

6/ Who is this man who brought sin into the world?

Romans 3: 23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, (MKJV)

7/ Who has sinned, and who needs to be saved?

Romans 6: 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (MKJV)

8/ What are the two main points in the above verse?
A/                                               B/

Note.
The death that is spoken about is not a death of the body, but the death of the spirit. The spirit of man will spend eternity either Heaven or hell.
A question that you could ask an unbeliever is, “Where would you like to spend eternity?” We need to show them that ALL need forgiveness from God.

9/ Why do all need to repent?
10/ Whose forgiveness do we need?

Once a person sees his or her own sin, then we must show what Jesus said about how we can be saved.

What did Jesus say about Salvation?

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (MKJV)

11/ In verse three Jesus made two points
                  A/
                  B/
12/ In verse five you must be born of
                  A/                    and of the
                  B/ To enter the            God

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. (MKJV)

13/ Who does God love?
14/ Who did God give to save us?

Romans 5:8 But God commends His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation. (MKJV)

15/ What have we been justified by?
16/ Whose blood?

When can we be saved?

John 3: 36 He who believes on the Son has everlasting life, and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides upon him. (MKJV)

1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures; (MKJV)

So when you believe that:
 Jesus is the Son of God.
 He died to take the sin away the sins of the whole world
 That He was raised from death.

So when and where can you be saved?

Now and Anywhere, If you believe, we don’t need to be in a Church building.

17/ Do you need to be in a church to be saved?                This is how to be saved:-

Romans 10: 8 But what does it say? "The Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart"; that is, the Word of Faith which we proclaim; 9  Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. 10  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. (MKJV)

How can we be sure that we are saved, and that we are born again?
18/ Confess with your mouth
19/ Believe in your heart that God raised Him
20/ For it is with your heart that you believe and are
21/ It is with your mouth that you confess and are

Matthew 10: 32 Then everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will confess him before My Father who is in Heaven. 33 But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in Heaven. (MKJV)

Therefore we need to say a short prayer of confession of Jesus and acceptance of Him as our Lord and Savior, and invite Him into our hearts.

Revelation 3: 20  Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with Me. (MKJV)

1 John 5: 11 And this is the record, that God has given to us everlasting life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I have written these things to you who believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have everlasting life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. (MKJV)

The prayer of acceptance, of Jesus as our Saviour.
Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for my sins.
I know that you sent your Son into the world to save me, and I thank you.
I know Jesus that you died on the cross to save me, washing my sins away with your blood.
I know that you rose on the third day.
I know that you are the Son of God.
Please Lord Jesus, come into my heart and live with me.
Thank you Father God that I am born again.
                         Amen
