The power of one When we think of one person one man or the one me we can be overcome or overwhelmed by the magnitude of a task or even life itself and give up. The Scriptures say we have One God and only one God. Ephesians 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling, 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all. 7 But to every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Therefore He says, "When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men." (MKJV) Freedom is not given, it is our birth right, but there are moments in history where we must take it. When man has lost his freedom he will do anything to get it back. Cicero once said, appealing to Julius Caesar in defense of the Republic of Roman, “ The whole result of the entire war depends on the life of one most brave and excellent man”. Alexander the Great was one man and he conquered half the world or at the time most of the known world. Hannibal crossed the Alps into Italy to defeat the Romans. Chairman Mao led China into the new Republic. Winston Churchill led England through it most difficult time in modern history. Nelson Mandela led his nation in reform for the betterment of his fellow man. There are many other leaders we can think of who have brought about change to their world, but none of them lived for ever, they have died or will die. What made them leaders was their STRONG BELIEF. Some beliefs were good for some people and some were bad for others and only the test history will proclaim their feats good or not. The greatest One
The greatest single person to change mankind throughout the whole world was Jesus Christ. He came to defeat Satan and to pull all who were lost out of the mouth of the roaring lion. Jesus knew what He had to do to achieve this feat; He had to go to the Cross without sinning and being assured of the outcome. Before He died He had prepared His Disciples to take over after He had left, He told them, “Go into all the world”. Mark 16: 15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." The disciples all freaked out and ran away. They didn’t believe in themselves or their calling. How God sees us in Jesus Below we can read what God sees in us, and this forms the foundation of our future success as a Christian. Ephesians chapter ONE states that we are in Christ * Blessed v3 * Chosen v4 * Accepted v6 * Redeemed v7 * United with Him v10 * Obtained an Inheritance v11 1 Corinthians 1:30 that we are in Christ * Justified * Sanctified * Adopted * Wise * Righteous Not only do we have all the above but in “2 Titus 1: 9, “death of no effect, bringing life and immortality to light through the gospel”. * Death of no effect * Become immortal * Illumination of the word of God 2 Titus 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the eternal times. 10 But it is now having been manifested by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has made death of no effect, bringing life and immortality to light through the gospel; (MKJV) * No condemnation * Given the Spirit of life Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 2 But the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. (MKJV) Now we have an understanding of what God has put in our foundation there is even more as certain needs arrive in a person’s life. Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (MKJV) * God does above all that we ask Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who were once afar off are made near by the blood of Christ. (MKJV) * Brought back to God Colossians 1:21 And you, who were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish, and without charge in His sight, (MKJV) Our legal position is unassailable but still the Devil will try to confuse us, but the Way God sees us is pretty good as we have read. God sees us victories, the head and not the tail. John 14:20 At that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. (MKJV) Finally we are works in progress and all at different stages depending on our willingness to allow the Holy Spirit to bring change. The Least Matthew 11:11 I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. We still find it hard to believe what God has said about us, this is an act of unbelief in the word of God.
Psalm 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (KJV)
God still wants us to be wise and be very sure about what we are doing and what we might want to do for God. Be sure of your calling and election
2Peter 1:10 Therefore, brothers, rather be diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things, you shall never fall. (MKJV) i. Be diligent You shall never fall ii. Be sure Be diligent means to look at all aspects before rushing into a position of responsibility.
To be sure is to know that you have looked at all possible things and then to make a decision and don’t change it easily.
