Trust Does the wind worry about the tree? No it passes through and around them. Does the rain worry about the mountains? No it finds it way to the sea. Does the sun stop shining because of the clouds? No it still shines and brings us life. Is Jesus the same today as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow? Yes, He is eternal. Q1/ Worrying about things won’t change anything. (True or False) Q2/ Does the sun stop shining. (True or False) When we look at Jesus as our example we should remember there are many aspect to His character and nature and we should consider all aspects of Christ to see Him as our example. Some writers write in narrow terms by only looking at Christ in one field, but in this study we have and we will try to look at many aspects of His nature. 1Peter 2:21 For you were not called to this? For Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps, Firstly, here we see Jesus suffering at the hands of man, so when we go through times of suffering, we should remember His example and how He dealt with this challenge. He did not open His mouth. But really, our Christian life is not full of trouble. We have many more good days than bad ones. Jesus promised us life, and not just that but an abundant life. The reasons He came to this earth was to teach us that ‘He is the Way, the Truth and the Life’. Q3/ Jesus is our example; He laid His life down for mankind. (True or False) Q4/ Our whole life is not full of troubles. (True or False) Q5/ We have more good days than bad days. (True or False) 1John 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk even as He walked. He is our example in the way we should live. As we study Him, in the Word of God we will find the truth about any situation that we are facing. When studying the Word we will see clearly how we should walk, and what we should do and what we should not do. Then after we have studied and absorbed the Word into ours hearts, we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds. There are rewards in this life as well as the next. As true disciples, we are to walk in the same manner as He did, which means to live as He lived (1 John 2:6). Q6/ Jesus shows us how to live. (True or False) Q7/ We can have rewards in this life now. (True or False) Mark 10:43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever desires to be great among you, let him be your servant. 44 And whoever of you desires to become first, he shall be servant of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. Jesus came to show us how to serve (Luke 22:27), teaching us, His disciples to be servants of all mankind (Mark 9:35). He humbled Himself and washed the disciples' feet. Seed for thought - have you ever washed the feet of people you are teaching? I did that in my church, and the people were moved to tears. None of them have left and their love for Jesus is very deep. They understood what Jesus did. He said His way is easy and pleasant (Matthew 11:30). It was not just the action of washing feet that He showed us, but He showed us how to humble ourselves before man. When we humble ourselves a certain thing takes place, there is power in you action, and provided you are doing it unto the Lord, lives will be changed. Q8/ Jesus didn’t wash anyone’s feet. (True or False) Q9/ Jesus came to serve and so should we. (True or False) Q10/ Jesus set the example of humility. (True or False) John 13:14 If then I, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Jesus said, "For he who is least among you, this is the one who is great" (Luke 9:48). The challenge for man and especially for those in ministry is to exalt the other person to build them up. I hope you can do this. If you can’t it means there is still too much flesh alive and little more need to die to self. Q11/ We need to lift people up and exult them. (True or False) Q12/ If we want to be great in God’s Kingdom, we should only think of ourselves. (True or False) Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be followers of God, as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given Himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. Jesus our example took on the form of a servant to show us how to serve one another in love (Philippians 2:7). He was a servant to others not to be exalted Himself but for the glory of God (Matthew 5:16). Remember as we serve our fellow man this is well pleasing to God. We don’t have to do anything to get to heaven but have belief in Jesus, but it is out of a loving relationship and intimate fellowship with Him we will want to serve. The one who is great in the eyes of God is the one who serves others in love. He will receive a crown in heaven, although that shouldn’t be our motivation; our motivation should be to be like Jesus and do what He did (Matthew 20:26-28). This is reward enough. Q13/ When we serve we are great in God’s eyes. (True or False) Q14/ Out of a deep relationship with Jesus we learn to serve. (True or False) Philippians 2:5 For let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Those who follow the teaching of Jesus and worship the Father in spirit and in truth will continue to practice their righteousness by doing good works of love, in serving others. They do so, because they are going to heaven, not to get there by these efforts (Romans 3: 28). Q15/ Serving God is not just a feeling. (True or False) Q16/ We practice our righteousness by doing good works. (True or False) Hebrews 12:2 looking to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest you be weary and faint in your minds. The example that Jesus has shown us inspires Christians to become healthy, zealous disciples who want to fulfill the calling of God, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. God has a purpose for every born-again Christian. All are called to be a royal priesthood. Jesus is the one who has written the script with the conclusion all we need to do is stay close to Him and be led by His example by the power of the Spirit of God. Q17/ We all have a purpose in our Christians life. (True or False) John 13:34 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. As I have loved you, you should also love one another. 1John 3:16 By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. Jesus left us instructions on how we should go about doing these works of faith; He said that we are to love. Some people say they love God, but they do not love their brothers. This is possibly because they have been hurt. But Jesus is calling us to work together with a heart of love. It was His example on the cross we should look to, to see love in action. If you think it was the nails that held Him to the cross you are wrong. He could have called on the angels of heaven to come and take Him down, but it was His love for you and me that held Him there. God knows we don’t have the power of love like that to set ourselves free we need Him. Q18/ It was only the nails that held Jesus to the cross. (True or False) Romans 5:5 And hope does not make us ashamed, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us. 6 For we yet being without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.7 For one will with difficulty die for a righteous one, yet perhaps one would even dare to die for a good one. How can we do the works of Jesus? If we follow His example we will become like Him and do the works He did. Jesus told His disciples that they must believe in Him whom God has sent (John 6:28-29). To believe means adhere, trust in, take action, live and obey the teachings of Jesus Christ (John 3:36, 11:25-26). We need some action in our life or our faith is dead, Jesus was all faith and He was busy about the Fathers work. Should we be about the Fathers work too? “YES”. Q19/ When we copy Jesus we will serve others. (True or False) Q20/ Without works our faith is dead. (True or False)
