To fight a fight which is worth winning; it takes a certain type of person and what is that type of person? Jesus is our example and He never moved away from the path that lay ahead of Him even unto the Cross. What are the qualities of Jesus? He is every thing. Hebrews 12:2 looking to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest you be weary and faint in your minds. Jesus was a winner. What does the world look for in a person who will have the qualities to be called a winner? Q1/ Is Jesus you champion? (Yes or No) Q2/ Did Jesus move away fro the task set before Him? (Yes or No) A non-Christian can be what seems to be a winner. What are these qualities which will set them apart? They will follow their own instincts and push through where others give-up they will have deep resolve, determination and a decisive nature. Also they will have a hunger to win or a fear of losing which will drive them, but in all this it is to satisfy their own desires or self gratification. Q3/ Winners in the world want to satisfy his or her own desires. (True or False) Q4/ If you are born-again you are a winner. (True or False) We as Christians can rest assured in the scripture below that we have all the right qualities to serve God. 1Corinthians 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness. 24 But to them, the called-out ones, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolish thing of God is wiser than men, and the weak thing of God is stronger than men. 26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise men according to the flesh are called, not many mighty, not many noble. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 and God has chosen the base things of the world, and things which are despised, and things which are not, in order to bring to nothing things that are; 29 so that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption; 31 so that, according as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord." The fight that Jesus fought was a fight for freedom. Freedom from Sin and Death, but this can be opened to pinpoint areas in a person’s life that has them in bondage. Some might say that they are not in bondage and were never in bondage in their life. If you say you have never or aren’t in any type of bondage then look again. Let us look at one such area people don’t look at often. Feelings Feelings are based on our experiences throughout our life. Some good, some bad. Your feelings are real. “What you feel is true to you.” But is it THE TRUTH or a truth? Feelings can be a lie, a deception coming from a bad experience or a bad teaching. First sign is that we have lost our peace. How can we find out if our feelings are lying to us or not? Go to the Word of God to see what God has to say about your situation. Q5/ Are you a called-out one? (Yes or No) Q6/ Is Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God? (Yes or No) Because God has chosen us and we have accepted Jesus as our Savior we have the mind of Christ and therefore we have the wisdom of God at our disposal. 1Corinthians 2:15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged by no one.16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ .(MKJV) Q7/ Is the Bible the word of God? (Yes or No) Q8/ We have the mind of Christ. (True or False) Q9/ Is God all knowing? (Yes or No) God doesn’t make mistakes! Q10/ Because God has chosen the foolish things you and me, we are wiser than man who has not accepted Jesus. (True or False) Q11/ Because God has chosen the despised, weak thing we, are stronger than man who has not accepted Jesus. (True or False) Q12/ Because God has not chosen many mighty or many noble He has chosen all of us to be a Royal priesthood. (True or False) Q13/ God has chosen the base things those that are not He has made us sons and daughters. (True or False) Q14/ The word of God can conflict with our feeling which one is wrong? (Bible or Our Feelings) Q15/ Which one needs to change the Bible or Our Feelings? (Bible or Our Feelings) Our walk with Jesus is not based on our feelings towards Him, but on FAITH. Heb 11:1 Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. (CEV) If you live your life based on your feelings you will not experience the full JOY of the Lord and will not know the total victory Jesus gave us at His resurrection. Q16/ Do you want to be a winner? (Yes or No) Hopefully your answer is yes, but you are already a winner if you are born-again. You may not know how to appropriate what you have learnt above and therefore it may be that you need a mentor. 2Th 3:8 neither did we eat any man's bread freely, but we worked with labor and travail night and day, so that we might not be heavy on any of you 9 (not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example to you, to imitate us). 10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this, that if anyone would not work, neither should he eat. To become a winner if you have never been a winner you need to be able to find someone who is a winner and follow their example so that you may inherit these qualities. We need to look for someone who has a great God to call on a God given purpose for life, has died to self, a deep resolve, determination and decisive nature. Also able to survive under extreme conditions and not only survive but move ahead. Q17/ A mentor will point you back to the word of God. (True or False) Q18/ A mentor is one who will lay down his or her life for the flock. (True or False) Some come close to such servants of God only to walk away and continue in the wilderness just like the nation of Israel. It is a blessing to have made a covenant with mighty men of God who act as mentors. Jesus is our example and He took upon Himself all the sins of man so that we would not have to go through the separation from God as He did Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is, My God, My God, why have You forsaken me? Jesus had been rejected by man and still is; even after all He went through. He never gave up He keeps going and is still going what a great example for us to copy. Q19/ Jesus is the ultimate mentor. (True or False) Some of us have experienced rejection, but it’s what you have done with that experience that makes you a winner or looser. I know some have had some very difficult time but the truth is we need to get over it and move onto the life set before us by God. Some men and women of God who move powerfully have had more tragic lives then most, but they see the answer and the victory and never wallow in the past. Mark 6:10 And He said to them, Wherever you enter into a house, abide there until you depart from that place. 11 And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city. 12 And they went out and proclaimed that men should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed many who were sick with oil, and healed them. You may be rejected by man but never by God and the true servants of God so keep on going when thing get tough. Q20/Do we give up or push onto the goal? (Yes or No) No matter how loud you speak or how talented you are it counts for nothing if you are not telling the truth. The softest whisper telling the truth will be heard through a cacophony of sounds. If someone rejects your word of truth about Jesus, you can walk away knowing you have done what Jesus has asked you to do. Jesus knows your pain because He felt it first. You want to know why some preachers preach with passion then try to understand their pain. To fight a fight which is worth winning all you need to do is present the Gospel and leave it to God.
