75 Don’t become a Christian PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 04 June 2008

I am compelled to tell people, “Don’t become a Christian” because you could lose everything you have held onto.  You will lose your life, this is a certainty, and you may find it.

Matthew 10:39, 16: 25 - Mark 8:35 - Luke 9:24, 17:33 – John 12: 25

If you are thinking of being a Christian, I hope you will listen and hear what I have to say. The outcome of your decision has eternal consequences, therefore count the cost and be sure that you have made the right choice. You need to make this decision by yourself because you have to live and die by it.

Luke 14:28–2 Peter 1:10–Philippians 1:21-Romans 14:8- John 11:25

Some have become a Christian because all of their friends were becoming one. Some become Christians because they were caught up in the emotion of the moment. Some become Christians because it is a family tradition. If it is family tradition, emotion of the moment or because your friends were going forward, that is a safe way for you to ACT. Acting is a safe place to live because you will never be challenged. Don’t become a Christian, if you feel a heartfelt conviction about your sins and you see the glory of Jesus’ salvation because you will never be the same. If you make a heartfelt decision to become a Christian you will become variable.

Colossians 2:8 –Mark 7:8 to 13 -Joel 3:14 –Matthew 3:8 –Luke 3: 8

Don’t become a Christian, because you will receive gifts from God. These gifts will change you and you don’t want that because you think you’re OK. Sin has never been a problem to you before, but when you become a Christian the Holy Spirit will move into your new heart. You will start to think like Jesus because God has given you the mind of Christ and the Word of God has been inscribed on your heart. The Holy Spirit will communicate with your new spirit because the old spirit was dead. You don’t want to become a Christian because of all these changes inwardly mean you have to force yourself to sin. You enjoy your sin, but if you become a Christian you might become obedient to God, therefore “Don’t become a Christian”.

James 2: 26 - Romans 6: 6 - 2 Corinthians 5: 17 - Ezekiel 36:26 - Hebrews 10:22 - Ezekiel 11:19, 20 - 1 Corinthians 2: 16 - Philippians 2: 5–9 - Hebrews 10:16 - Jeremiah 31:33

Don’t become a Christian, because you will change and you don’t want to do that. You have got this far in life by doing things your own way. Why change now? You don’t need to wake up to the reality of eternity. If you should wake up before you die, your destiny may be in another place other than the one you were originally going to. If you wake up and see Jesus you will change your perspective having a better life, therefore “Don’t become a Christian”.

Ephesians 2:1 to 6 - John 10:10 - 1John 2:24 -

Don’t become a Christian, because you will be challenged by Jesus. He tells all Christians to go into the whole world to tell people of the saving grace of a merciful God. God forbid, you may have to leave your mother and father. You might not even be there when they die and get buried, because you were telling and showing the love of Jesus to some little children in another nation.

Mark 16: 15 – Matthew 24: 14, 8: 22, and 19: 14 - Luke 9: 60 –

You don’t want to become a Christian, because you may need to leave the comfortable home to live with people who have nothing but they want you to sleep in their bed. If you don’t become a Christian you will never need to face things like this.  Stay safe, don’t become a Christian.

Luke 9: 58 – Matthew 8: 20 and 19: 16 to 22 – Mark 10: 24 -

Don’t become a Christian, if you suffer from rejection, because God will accept you as you are. If He accepts you, your story will change because you won’t be able to get others to feel pity for you. If you follow Jesus telling others about Him, people will reject you and then you can revert to your old story of rejection. It is another pity party that you can wallow in. On the other hand you may see that it’s not you they are rejecting but the Jesus in you.

Luke 9: 22 – Matthew 21: 42 – Mark 8: 31 – Luke 21: 17, 21: 12

Don’t become a Christian, if you like your drugs because you will be set free. The Holy Spirit will take over and cleanse you. If that happens the danger is that you may be asked by God to make a bridge with your friends who are into drugs. On the other hand God may call you to preach to the self righteous who have dwelled in the Church without making contact with the suffering.  This can be frightening and it would be easier to stay with your drugs. You don’t want to be brave so don’t become a Christian.

Matthew 8: 3 – John 15: 3 -

Don’t become a Christian, if you sat and watched your father die of cancer, or you held your son as he died in your hands, because you want to blame God. Don’t become a Christian, because when you have gone through a difficult time and someone says to you the reason this has happened to you was, because God had a special job for you to do. You don’t want to hear that and you don’t want to become a Christian, because you had your story. If you become a Christian your story will change and you can’t use the old story again. You will be able to help those who are going through what you went through.

Ecclesiastics 3: 17 – Isaiah 43: 1 -

The danger you face is when you are walking through the dusty streets of a poor nation when a man and women drag you into their humble home to pray for a premature baby under a wire mesh with a small light burning to keep the baby warm. Your memories and fears rise up in you. You push them down because you know what they are thinking. Don’t become a Christian, because you will overcome your fears and others will have a miracle you didn’t.

1 John 4: 4 – 1 John 4: 18 – 2 Timothy 1: 7

Don’t become a Christian, if you think you have no sin because ignorance is bliss. If you go to church and they tell you have sin because the Bible says you have sin. You know that the little sins you have committed aren’t a problem, because they are small. Don’t become a Christian, because you will learn all sin is sin and that the only thing that stops you from coming to God is because you don’t want to repent. If you can live or die with your decision believing that you are 100% good and you’re sure you will get to heaven. Don’t become a Christian because you will learn you’re not going to heaven even if you’re good.

Hebrews 4:12 - 1 John 1: 8 – Luke 15: 7 -

If you are a Christian because you want insurance, just in case there is heaven and hell, don’t become a Christian because you won’t get to heaven. If you become a Christian you will develop an understanding of assurance of salvation. Insurance is only a cover for uncertainty. Get religion by going to a church but don’t become a Christian because you may start to enjoy yourself.

Colossians 2: 2 – Hebrews 6: 11 and 10: 22

If you have been abused as a child, don’t become a Christian because one day you will be faced with the power of forgiveness. You will be challenged about forgiving those you have violated you. Don’t become a Christian. Hold onto your pain and un-forgiveness. Keep your bitterness because the one who did the abominable act upon you doesn’t even think about you or what they have done. If you become a Christian the Holy Spirit will work in you to bring about a healing. If you become a Christian you will be healed, therefore don’t become a Christian and stay in your pain.

Psalm 130: 4 – Ephesians 1: 7 – Matthew 6: 12 - James 5: 15 -

Don’t become a Christian, because you will hear that God thinks you are beautiful and you know that’s not true. If the Bible says that you are beautiful then it must be wrong. If you become a Christian you might start to believe the Bible and love yourself. The big danger is you may start to love others and then relationships start to work.

1 Peter 2: 17

My choice

Joshua 24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (KJV)

Becoming a Christian means:

You will find out joy is better than happiness. Nehemiah 8: 10

You will be happy to know the word of God. 2 Timothy 3:15

You will be happy to study the word of God. Psalm 1:2

You will want to talk to God. Psalm 65: 2

You will want to go to Church and enjoy it. 1 John 1: 7

You will become secure in the knowledge of your position in God. Colossians 2: 2

You will become productive in all areas of your life. John 8:12

You will know that you are protected in all conditions. Psalm 28:7

You will prosper in all you do. Psalm 1:3

You will have security about your final destination (salvation). 2 Corinthians 5: 6-8

You will want to go into the world and tell people about Jesus. Luke 6: 45

You will want to give up sin. 1 John 5: 18

You will be healed. 2 Chronicles 7: 14

You will start to love others. 1 Peter 1: 22

You will find peace. Psalm 119: 165

You will change. Romans 12: 2

Finally, if you want to reject my advice that I have given in this lesson and you want to become a Christian. You need to stand up and come to the altar to say a prayer of repentance.

The prayer of acceptance of Jesus as our Savior

Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for my sins.

I know that you sent your Son into the world to save me, and I thank you.

I know Jesus that you died on the cross to save me, washing my sins away with your blood.

I know that you rose on the third day.

I know that you are the Son of God.

Please Lord Jesus, come into my heart and live with me.

Thank you Father God that I am born again.

                         Amen
