As we plant seeds of faith in our hearts, we will learn more about God’s nature. As we leap into the arms of a loving God we will find the answers to provision for all our needs. This then builds us up on the inside and we become stronger in our spirit. Everyone has used faith at sometime or another. If you are saved, then it is because you exercised your faith. Faith is an act of our will based on a word from God. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (MKJV) Q1/ Was God pleased when you used your faith to be saved? (True or false) Q2/ As you walk by faith you get weaker. (True or false) Q3/ The reward we receive is our salvation? (True or false) To live by faith is to live in another dimension or even in another world while walking in this world. That is to believe in things that have not happened but you believe and know in your spirit that they are going to happen. Our walk with Jesus Christ is a walk of faith. Our eyes have not seen Him as yet but by faith we have believed and are saved. We need to come to a place of complete trust in a God and a divine power that lies in the words of God. God has given His Holy Spirit to us, to live in our hearts to confirm His presence. Hebrews 11: 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (MKJV) Q4/ Faith only believes in what you can see or touch. (True or false) Q5/ Faith is being sure that Jesus lives even though we have not seen Him. (True or false) First level of faith If we look at our belief just in the mind we will find many disappointments, because it is with the heart that we will see many things of God. The book of Romans shows the importance of believing from the heart. For a Christian, the source of our belief and thinking is our heart. The heart is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Rom 10:9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him shall not be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference both of Jew and of Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call on Him. 13 For everyone, "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved." (MKJV) Q6/ The things of God are only seen in the head. (True or false) Q7/ If you call on the name of Jesus you will be saved. (True or false) Q8/ The heart is where we believe in Christ. (True or false) Q9/ We need head knowledge to be saved. (True or false) Q10/ We need just a little heart knowledge to be saved. (True or false) * C. S. Spurgeon said that faith is made up of three things — knowledge, belief, and trust. 1. Knowledge comes first. (Education, enlightenment, learning, grasp & understanding) 2. The mind goes on to believe (To be sure. Accept judge be convinced be certain) 3. Then comes the next necessary step. Trust. (Jesus is what He is said to be, Jesus will do what He says He will do;) The above statement is correct in the development of believers as they go from glory to glory, but it fails to deliver on how a person comes from being an unbeliever to being a believer. I say this is because the things of God are foolishness to those who are not going to heaven. So there is a point where a person will switch over to become a believer. 1Corinthaians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (MKJV) It would be wrong for us to advocate that anyone should study the Word of God and become proficient in it before becoming a believer. A little understanding and a little FAITH is all that is required for someone to be saved. After a person is saved, the eyes of their understanding will open and they will see more in the Word of God. Q11/ A wise man who is not saved will not understand the things of God. (True or false) Q12/ Knowledge is all we need to be saved. (True or false) Q13/ The things of the Spirit are only for the believer. (True or false) Second level of faith Luke 8:22 And it happened on a certain day that He went into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, Let us go over to the other side of the lake. And they put out to sea. (MKJV) The disciples of Jesus were believers, but still they had some questions in their minds and their hearts had not fully been transformed at this point in time. Jesus said, “let us go over”. So if God said, “let us go over”, He didn’t mean, “let us go under”. This is the development we all face in our growth as a Christian. Luke 8:25 And He said to them, Where is your faith? And being afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this One? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him! (MKJV) Q14/ Jesus said let us go under. (True or false) Q15/ The disciples were not believers at this point. (True or false) Q16/ The disciples had no faith. (True or false) Third Level of Faith Acts 11:24 For he was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit and faith. And many people were added to the Lord. (MKJV) Barnabas was a mature man of faith. That is to say, he had trusted in the Lord to meet all his needs and he was sure of the presence of the Holy Spirit in him. When we becomes like him, we will no longer be a servant of God we will be His friends. Because we are friends of God we will know His heart. Barnabas, like other great men of God walked by faith this is a little different from the faith we all had when we were saved. This faith is based on hearing the calling of God moving accordingly. Q17/ Barnabas was a mature man of God. (True or false) Q18/ Barnabas was a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. (True or false) Q19/ Many didn’t come into the Kingdom of God. (True or false) Q20/ Barnabas had fellowship with God that is why he was full of faith. (True or false) * Please note again that this is only a brief outline on the subject of faith.
